Every night Mackenzie sleeps sandwiched between Albert (the alligator) and Scottie (the dog). If Scottie ever falls out of the bed she runs into our room so Robert or I can go in to get them all situated again.
Here is the reason we have to give Brookie her drinks in sippy cups. She can drink fine out of a real cup but it is just too tempting.

So. Fun.
The coolest thing ever is that I've been able to play basketball on our ward basketball team. We have been playing other teams in our stake for the last few weeks. I love all the ladies that play. Our team made it to region so we play teams from other stakes. Last night we won our first region game and I just have to say it has been so so so exciting to play basketball again. I just love the great exercise and the competition. And a few months ago I even played on our ward volleyball team. They even have refs!
So. Fun.

Latest Interior Decorating
I couldn't resist blogging about this. My mom brought me these (or rather I made her give me these) oil paintings that my Grandma Jean did. I went to Michaels and got matching frames for them and hung them in our formal living room. I think they look so great. I'm proud to be the only one in my neighborhood or even my state with a Jean Lattin original. Now we just need furniture for that room and it will be complete.
These are great art pieces but I love them so much because they remind me of Grandma and home. When I was little Grandma let me dab into the oils a bit and I loved it. Isn't she awesome!

It is your birthday.
Robert's birthday was about as exciting as the party Jim and Dwight planned for Kelli. But at least I know how to spell his name and how old he is. He is now 29, which means he has exactly one more year to enjoy his 20's. Live it up. To him this means get that trip to Disneyland planned.
[Honey, I just want you to know that I fully support this vacation and I'm even willing to go with you-mostly because I think you will have more fun if I go :) ]
I hope you know on your special day how incredible us girls think you are! Maybe I wouldn't choose you for the Amazing Race but I did choose you for forever which is way better.

Sensitive Nose
The other night Mackenzie was sitting on her dad's lap watching t.v. I hear Mackenzie yell "Who stinks?" She always demands to know who was the culprit when she smells a stink toot.
Then she ran down the hall shouting "I don't love you. I'm running away."
Geez

Bandwagon
Everybody is blogging about Valentine's Day so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon. We went to St. George for the weekend. My parents had a wedding to attend so it was the perfect excuse to meet them down there. So on Valentine's the whole fam checked out some Parade of Homes homes, Robert and the kids and I went swimming, and then we all went to Cafe Rio.
It was a great day but not exactly Valentine-ish. I do believe there were vocal "Happy Valentine's Days" exchanged so that's pretty good I think. I may not be the most romantical person around but I sure do have a great honey!

How Can It Be Possible?
Today my baby- oh excuse me, my Mackenzie- turned 3 years old.
She has been quite a trooper so far in her life. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa. Robert took a job with the Iowa Events Center right after we finished school at BYU. We were living in an apartment until she was 3 months old and then we bought a house. We lived there until Mackenzie was about 17 months old. Robert then got a promotion and we moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This was a short 4 month stint because we were able to find a job back home in Salt Lake. So we shacked up with Grandma Carol for a while, then rented a house in Bluffdale for a while and finally got settled into our home right after Kenzie turned 2. Boy, good work Kenzie!

Speaking of when Kenzie turned 2...it seems like yesterday. But it wasn't- it was a year ago and she has changed and grown and learned so much since then. She is a bright fun little girl now. We get such a kick out of her. Robert and I often look at each other and smile trying not to laugh at the things she says (usually because we don't want her to think it's ok). She has been telling us she wants to stay 2 this week and I think it is because we've been telling her all the things 3 year olds can do by themselves. She is torn between wanting independence and wanting someone by her side at all times. But when it came down to it, it was worth turning 3 for all the loot she got! (Thank you to our families who helped us celebrate such a fun milestone!) (Let me tell you she fell asleep right on the couch after all that excitement!)
